Merola warns of possible delay to Italy’s land-based gambling reform
Democratic Party deputy Virginio Merola told Italy’s Chamber of Deputies that the government’s response to opposition motions did not clarify whether it would complete land-based gambling reform by the deadline at the end of August. He warned that another extension could delay reform and argued that municipalities and regions should retain powers over venue locations, hours and sensitive areas.
Operators and local authorities face uncertainty over the timing and local rules for land-based gambling reform.
