Massachusetts House proposal would allow HHR machines at two former racetracks
A Massachusetts House bill would allow Suffolk Downs and Raynham Park to operate historical horse racing machines under licences issued to the former racetracks. The House passed its version of the economic development bill in July, but the Senate version omits the measure, leaving it for conference committee negotiations. Backers project $120 million in annual tax revenue by the machines’ third year, while casino operators dispute the forecast.
The proposal could alter competition and state and local revenues if lawmakers include it in the final bill.
