Italy’s draft retail gambling reform proposes 100-metre distance for certified shops

Regulation

Italy’s draft decree to reorganise land-based gambling is nearing its final institutional steps, with certified shops potentially allowed within 100 metres of sensitive locations such as schools and care homes, according to the report. The proposed measures also include uniform rules, a share of gambling revenue for local authorities and a permanent consultation body on gambling addiction; the decree has not yet completed its final steps.

The proposed distance rule and uniform framework could change where certified gambling shops may operate in Italy.
