Italy’s Court of Cassation overturns Palermo house arrest order in illegal betting case
Italy’s Court of Cassation overturned and remanded a Palermo court order placing a businessman under house arrest over alleged links to illegal online betting and a mafia group. It said the order did not adequately establish that his technical support had produced a concrete benefit for the group; the Palermo review court must reassess the evidence.
The remand requires the Palermo court to determine whether technical support materially assisted the illegal betting operation.
