Indonesia’s OJK directs banks to review 36,191 suspected gambling-linked accounts
Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority, the OJK, told banks to apply enhanced due diligence or block 36,191 accounts suspected of links to illegal online gambling. Banking supervision chief Dian Ediana Rae said the accounts were identified using information from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs; banks were also instructed to close other accounts linked to the same national identification numbers.
Banks must extend checks beyond flagged accounts to other records linked to the same identification numbers.
