Illegal gambling ads reportedly appear in ChatGPT in the Netherlands

Enforcement & compliance

Illegal gambling advertisements reportedly appeared beneath ChatGPT responses to Dutch users asking about online casinos, despite OpenAI’s advertising rules excluding gambling-related conversations. The report said an advertisement linked to a page presented as Playtika’s, which redirected users to an affiliate site listing casinos described as illegal in the Netherlands. OpenAI’s response was not included.

The reported ads could direct Dutch users from ChatGPT to gambling sites described as operating illegally in the market.

End-of-day close Playtika (PLTK), USD, to 19 October 2026
