IBJR challenges AGU’s R$1bn claim against 17 betting operators
Brazil’s Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR) criticised the Attorney General’s Office (AGU) claim seeking R$1bn from 17 betting operators, saying the case lacked essential evidence and could increase legal uncertainty. The association said the claim did not demonstrate damage, causation or individual responsibility, and noted that related regulatory questions are before the Supreme Federal Court.
The claim and industry response could affect legal exposure for the 17 operators targeted in the case.
