Regulation

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs proposed raising the sports betting tax to 45% for operators handling at least $75m in monthly bets. Her $17.7bn budget proposal estimates the change could generate $150m in additional annual revenue; smaller operators would remain at 10%. Lawmakers will debate the proposal during the 2026 legislative session.

The proposal could materially increase tax costs for sportsbooks above the monthly handle threshold if lawmakers approve it.
