German casino association warns regulation could weaken land-based operators

Regulation

The German casino association DSbV warned that rising regulatory and compliance costs could make land-based casinos economically unsustainable and push some customers towards unlicensed online gambling. Its president, Kerstin Kosanke, cited the planned EU cash-use limit from 2027 and called for dialogue with public authorities; the association plans to take part in revisions to Germany’s State Treaty on Gambling and related guidance.

The warning signals potential compliance-cost concerns for German casino operators as gambling and anti-money-laundering rules are reviewed.
