German cabinet approves World Cup public-viewing noise-rule exceptions
Germany’s federal cabinet approved a regulation on 25 March allowing exceptions to noise rules for public screenings during the 2026 football World Cup. Local authorities could permit events after 22:00 but must weigh the public interest in the matches against protecting night-time quiet. The Bundesrat still needs to approve the regulation.
Venues and local authorities may be able to hold World Cup screenings later, subject to local assessment and Bundesrat approval.
