Gambia plans 50% tax on gambling winnings from January 2026

Regulation

Gambia’s government plans to raise tax on gambling winnings from 40% to 50% from 1 January 2026, Finance Minister Seedy Keita said during the 2026 budget presentation. The proposed rate applies to regulated sports betting, lotteries, casinos and gaming machines. Authorities also plan a digital platform to monitor betting activity, payouts and tax remittances.

Operators across regulated gambling sectors may face a higher tax on winnings and new transaction-monitoring requirements.
