Foz do Iguaçu mayor proposes repealing municipal lottery laws after STF ruling

Regulation

Foz do Iguaçu mayor General Silva e Luna sent the city council a bill to repeal the laws authorising the municipal lottery, following a restrictive interpretation by Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court (STF). The proposal covers the laws that established Lotoeste and later renamed it Lotofoz; it has begun legislative proceedings, according to reports.

Repealing the authorising laws would remove the legal basis for Lotofoz, making the city council’s decision material to the lottery’s future.
