Flutter-commissioned report puts UK illegal gambling market share at 9%
A report commissioned by Flutter UK & Ireland says illegal operators account for roughly 9% of the UK gambling market. Its author, fraud specialist Alex Wood, reported that offshore sites accepted registrations using false identities and that social media and common payment methods helped direct users to unregulated betting sites.
The reported 9% share could affect regulated operators and government tax receipts as illegal sites compete for customers.
