Flávio Bolsonaro criticises proposed Brazil betting ban
Senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro criticised the Brazilian government’s proposed ban on betting, saying a provisional measure could lapse after the election. He claimed the government had collected more than R$20bn since regulating the sector; the report says the government also sent Congress a bill proposing prison terms of up to six years for operating or offering bets.
The proposal’s duration and parliamentary approval process could affect the status of betting operators in Brazil.
