Federal judge upholds Coquille Tribe casino approval in Medford
A US federal judge upheld the decision allowing the Coquille Indian Tribe to operate a casino in Medford, Oregon, rejecting a challenge by three other tribes. The ruling affirmed the Interior Department’s January 2025 decision to place about 2.4 acres in trust and authorise gaming there; the casino has operated since January 2025. The decision can be appealed to the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit.
The ruling maintains the casino’s authority to operate while leaving the opposing tribes an appeal route.
