Federal court blocks Michigan from stopping TwinSpires wagering
A federal court issued summary judgment on 6 January permanently blocking Michigan from shutting down Churchill Downs’ TwinSpires advance deposit wagering platform, according to the report. The decision found the state’s racetrack-tethering requirement conflicted with the Interstate Horseracing Act; Michigan’s gaming regulator had argued the platform breached state law.
The ruling allows TwinSpires to continue operating in Michigan without the in-state racetrack link required by state law.
