Churchill Downs challenges Maine law granting tribes exclusive iGaming rights
Churchill Downs and Oxford Casino filed a complaint in the US District Court for the District of Maine on 23 January, challenging a state law granting four federally recognised tribes exclusive rights to offer online casino gaming, according to a media report. The plaintiffs seek an injunction, arguing that the law is unconstitutional and would harm land-based casinos; Oxford Casino paid more than $40 million in taxes in 2025, the report said.
The challenge could affect whether commercial casinos can offer online gaming in Maine.
