Bulgarian government proposes near-total gambling advertising ban

Regulation

Bulgaria's government proposed amendments to the Gambling Act that would almost entirely prohibit gambling advertising, with an exception for sports sponsorship branding on team kits and sports facilities. The proposed package also includes a ban on illuminated casino and gaming hall facades, changes to land-based gambling taxes and real-time connections between gaming equipment and the National Revenue Agency. Prime Minister Rumen Radev said the government would open a consultation on the measures.

Operators in Bulgaria could face proposed restrictions on advertising, venue displays, taxation and regulatory monitoring.
