Brazilian senators seek plenary review of betting tax bill
Senator Carlos Portinho filed an appeal on 9 December asking Brazil’s Senate to consider bill PL 5473/25 in plenary, after the Economic Affairs Committee approved it. The committee-approved text would raise the betting sector’s GGR contribution from 12% to 15% in 2026 and 2027, then to 18% from 2028; the appeal seeks further debate and possible amendments.
Plenary consideration could change the proposed tax increases affecting fixed-odds betting operators in Brazil.
