Brazilian Chamber approves urgency for gambling addiction assistance bill
Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies approved urgent consideration on 22 April for Bill 4583/24, which would establish a national assistance programme for people affected by gambling disorder. The proposal includes health and social support, protections for minors, platform data for epidemiological analysis and funding from taxes on betting platforms, according to the bill’s sponsor, Ruy Carneiro.
If enacted, the proposal would set out care, monitoring and funding obligations relevant to betting platforms.
