Brazil, US and Argentina regulators call for cooperation against illegal betting

Regulation

Regulators and government officials from Brazil, Argentina and the United States called for closer cross-border cooperation against illegal online betting at a São Paulo event, reportedly. An Argentine official said about 80% of bets in the country occur outside regulated environments. Brazil’s Prizes and Betting Secretariat is working with other institutions on measures including blocking illegal websites and standardising rules with 16 states.

The officials’ call highlights enforcement coordination and national measures affecting online betting markets.
