Brazil sports ministry plans athlete education on betting and match manipulation
Brazil’s government plans to expand education for athletes about betting and match manipulation, national secretary Giovanni Rocco said at a seminar in São Paulo on 22 June. The proposed work would focus particularly on younger athletes and complement enforcement measures. Rocco also advocated a task force with sports federations to guide athletes and their families and strengthen restrictions on competition participants’ betting activity.
The proposed guidance could affect how operators address betting access for athletes and others involved in competitions.
