Brazil’s Workers’ Party backs betting taxes in 2026 policy documents

Regulation

Brazil’s Workers’ Party completed voting on three documents at its eighth national congress on 26 April, setting out direction for President Lula’s 2026 re-election campaign. The approved manifesto refers to taxing betting platforms and does not propose banning them; party leaders said two documents will receive final review by the national directorate.

The party’s tax position may inform the 2026 debate over fiscal treatment of Brazil’s betting sector.
