BetMakers said preliminary, informal discussions with Tabcorp about a possible change of control have ended without a formal offer. The company said it continues to provide Tabcorp with wagering technology and content distribution services; Tabcorp had not formally responded.
The failed discussions leave BetMakers’ existing technology supply relationship with Tabcorp in place.

It was reported that Fitch assessed Tabcorp’s BetMakers acquisition as credit neutral. The ratings agency said an AUSTRAC investigation remained the company’s principal near-term concern.

Tabcorp and DAZN Bet have launched their WorldPlay sports prediction platform in Australia, the UK, Germany, Spain and Austria, according to the companies’ announcement. The Australian version offers a guaranteed AU$500,000 prize pool and a possible AU$20m perfect-bracket prize; eligible players in the four European markets can compete for a £50,000 guaranteed pool and a £1m perfect-bracket prize, or the euro equivalent outside the UK.
AUSTRAC has opened an enforcement investigation into Tabcorp over its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing compliance, the company disclosed on 7 May. The inquiry will initially examine the operator’s programme, its implementation and customer monitoring; Tabcorp said the investigation is at an early stage and all outcomes remain possible.
