Benin National Lottery reports 36% profit decline in 2025

Deals & M&A

The National Lottery of Benin reported a 36% fall in profit for 2025, attributing the decline partly to unlicensed betting and slot machines and the absence of a one-off gain recorded in 2024. Revenue fell 4% to XOF98.6bn (€150.4m), while online gaming accounted for 68% of revenue and grew 18%. The operator said it is preparing a unified digital platform for betting, casino games and virtual products.

The results show the lottery’s exposure to unlicensed competition and its planned expansion of digital betting and casino products.
