Basque bingo association calls for equal rules as social bingo regulation is debated
The Basque Parliament’s Security Commission discussed social bingo this week as part of debate on a proposed amendment to the Gaming Law. The Basque Bingo Association said social bingo competes for the same older customers as licensed halls and argued that equivalent safeguards should apply; older people’s representatives defended its social role. A study presented to the commission found 63.1% of surveyed associations offer or have offered bingo, while 13.5% recently stopped activities over possible sanctions.
Any change could affect bingo halls competing with social activities and the safeguards required of licensed venues.
