Australia’s gambling reform bill would give ACMA ad-removal powers

Regulation

Australia’s Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2026 would allow ACMA to issue removal notices for illegal gambling advertisements on online content services, according to the bill’s reported provisions. Introduced on 2 July, it would also require specified digital and payment services to block access to designated illegal operators or transfers; most provisions are scheduled to start on 1 January 2027. A Senate inquiry is due to report on 17 August.

The proposed rules would give ACMA compulsory tools to address illegal gambling advertising and access to offshore operators.
