ANJL challenges link between Pix decline and betting restrictions in Brazil

Regulation

The ANJL said Pix transactions were already declining before Brazil announced restrictions on the regulated fixed-odds betting market on 25 September. Comparing equivalent calendar periods in August and September, it found transaction numbers fell 3.0% while the value transferred rose 3.7%, and said the figures do not establish that the restrictions caused the change.

The comparison affects how operators assess claims about betting restrictions and payment activity.
