The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal in the long-running legal dispute over the Gambling Commission's tender for the National Lottery licence. The ruling brings the litigation over the tender to an end, the outlet reported.
It was reported that the Court of Appeal refused TNLC and Northern & Shell permission to challenge part of April 2026’s High Court judgment. That judgment rejected their claims against UKGC over the fourth National Lottery licence award.
Allwyn launched Powerball in the UK. The addition forms part of its National Lottery expansion strategy, which aims to double weekly contributions to good causes by 2034.
Allwyn recorded revenue of €754m in the three months ending March 2026, according to preliminary unaudited results. The company said modernising the UK National Lottery weighed on its domestic operations, and it expects to return to growth now that the main work is complete.
Reportedly, Allwyn UK has appointed Phil Walker as interim chief executive. Walker previously worked as an executive at William Hill.
