AGU asks Brazil’s Supreme Court to exempt Caixa lotteries from benefit-player restrictions
Brazil’s Office of the Attorney General asked the Supreme Federal Court to exclude Caixa-operated lotteries from restrictions on beneficiaries of social programmes using betting services. The AGU argued that the restrictions should cover private fixed-odds betting platforms, not federal lotteries, citing their distinct legal status and social purpose. The court has not set a date to rule on the underlying cases.
The request could determine whether social-benefit recipients may continue accessing federal lotteries while private betting platforms block them.
