ACT Government proposes cashless gambling and 1,000-machine cap by 2045

Regulation

The plan would require account-based cashless play, extend weekly machine closure periods by 15 hours and reduce authorised machines to no more than 1,000 by 2045; the government said it would support community clubs through the transition.

Operators and community clubs would need to adapt to tighter machine limits, operating hours and payment rules.

A termination would take effect on the last day of the quarter following the request.
