ACCJ representative challenges Chilean tax authority’s treatment of online betting platforms
Luis Cordero, representing the Chilean Casino Games Association (ACCJ), accused the Internal Revenue Service (SII) of normalising foreign online betting platforms by allowing them to pay VAT. Cordero said the ACCJ had asked the Comptroller General to rule on the legality of SII Exempt Resolution No. 69. He also cited a Supreme Court ruling ordering six internet providers to block betting sites.
The Comptroller General’s review may determine whether the SII’s VAT treatment aligns with Chile’s rules on unauthorised gambling.
